Hello Crocs!I am excited to begin my 17th year in education at Lyle Creek. My undergraduate degree is from Appalachian State University. From 2007-2018 I taught Social Studies at St. Stephens High School where I also coached boys basketball. From there, I transitioned into the assistant principal role at Lyle Creek where I served for 3 years. Most recently, I was the principal at Pumpkin Center Intermediate School in Lincoln County. Personally, I am married with a daughter on the way in August 2023. My wife Margaret is a teacher in the district. I enjoy sports, traveling, and the outdoors in general.

Hello Crocs! My name is Erin Halsey, and I am thrilled to be the new Assistant Principal at Lyle Creek. We are going to have an amazing 2023-2024 school year! I have been the Academic Facilitator at Startown for the past 6 years, and in this role I have developed a love of seeing the “big picture” of what makes a school great. I am excited to get to know the students, staff, families, and community at Lyle Creek and to work with you to continue the great things you are doing. I believe every student deserves an equitable and high-quality education, and I also believe every teacher deserves administrators who support their growth as an educator. While in the classroom I taught 5th and 3rd grades. I love math, read-alouds, and dress-up days! I live in Newton with my husband Jonathan and our two children - Brenna who is 13 and Davin who is 11. I’m excited to meet each of you, and I feel so lucky to be a Lyle Creek Croc!

Mrs. Matlock
I am excited to join Lyle Creek. I have been a TA and substitute for Catawba County Schools. I am married to Derrick and we have 3 daughters and a chocolate lab! I'm originally from Lenoir, but have called Newton home for the last 26 years. I look forward to meeting the students and parents at Lyle Creek!

Mrs. Norton
I have worked in an educational setting for nearly 17 years and have been at Lyle Creek (and for the past 3 years also Claremont) for 14 of those years. I have an English degree from UNCC and I feel like education is the backbone of our society. I have one "child" who will graduate before I know it. I have enjoyed being a part of these schools, this feeder area, and this community!

Hi! My name is Rebekah Sprinkle, but most of my students and staff just call me Nurse Sprinkle. I have been a school nurse for 13 years and love that I get to work with elementary students. I am passionate about encouraging others to take care of their body and make healthy choices every day. I strive to help students manage their health conditions so that they can be successful and health to learn at school. I look forward to this coming school year and working with you.
